The average 122,224 +7.0% and +7.960 people

Under the old formula would have meant that the 2011 census Alberta would gain two seats meanwhile BC and Ontario would gain one each.

The new formula adds 15 seats to Ontario, 6 each to BC and Alberta and 3 to Quebec

The numbers actually look better than they have for awhile.   A few more seats for Alberta and Ontario are really warranted, but at least we are better than under the old rules.

The census shows that the riding of Oak Ridge Markham has a population of 228,997.  That is enough more than two ridings in Ontario.   There are five in Ontario that are all over 190,000 - Brampton West comes in at 204,146, Halton at 203,437, Vaughn at 196,068, and Bramlea-Gore-Malton with 192,020.   They are all in an arch running from north of Toronto westwards around to north of Hamilton.
